The Pescadores Islands are like pearls scattered in the southwest Taiwan Strait. The host town of Penghu is famous for its gorgeous beaches, glorious temples and the traditional Taiwanese-style homes surrounded by coral walls.
3.8km Swim
Athletes will enjoy an inviting 3.8km swim in the beautiful beach at Shihli of Penghu. The swim is a two counter-clockwise lap, out and back as a triangle. After finish the first lap, athletes will come up to the beach and enter the water again to do the second lap.
180km Bike
On the bike course, athletes are able to take in the breathtakingly views of the Taiwan Strait and local scenic views that Penghu is well known for. Athletes will exit Transition Area 1 at Shihli Elementary School and head out onto Route 201, then turn right onto Route 204. Athletes will follow this road and turn left onto Route 202. After passing through the first aid station located at Guoye Elementary School for a while, turn right onto Route 11 and then turn left on to Route 12. After turning right onto Route 203, athletes will reach Point A following this road. Later, athletes will pass over the Penghu Great Bridge and arrive at Xiyu West Fort Parking, which is marked as Point B for the furthest turnaround. Once making a U-turn at Point B, athletes will head back to another turnaround at Point A by following Route 203 and turning right onto Route 8-1 and Route 8. After riding back and forth between Point A and Point B for 3 laps, athletes will turn right onto Route 203. Make a right turn to Route 202, turn right onto Route 204 and turn left onto Route 205. Follow Wenshan Road, turn left onto Jingguo Road, turn right onto Wende Road, turn left onto Xindian Road, turn right onto Yongtai Street and then athletes will reach T2, which is located beside Four Points by Sheraton Penghu.
42.2km Run
The 4 lap marathon run course will be once athletes leave the Transition Area 2 and run onto Tonghe Road then turnaround to go along Tonghe Road to arrive R1. Runners will make a U-turn at R1 and run to point A then Make a U-turn head back to Point B, Point C and turn right pass by the Finish area. Athletes then follow Xindian Road and turn right to Yongshou Street then turn left to Xinying Road. Athletes need to along the road to point D then Make a U-turn head to point E where R2 and medical tent locate. And Make a U-turn at R2 then run to point F. At point F, athletes can get their special needs bag. Then Make a U-turn head back to the lap band collection point to complete one lap. And then start another loop. Athletes are required to complete 4 laps and collect 3 lap bands before head to the Finish line.
