As the impact of COVID-19 persists on the Island of Hawai`i, resources remain stretched, and we lack confidence that the Big Island will be ready for us by early next year. As a result, our gracious hosts in St. George, Utah, have risen to the occasion to hold the 2021 edition. The Land of Endurance will mix the striking and austere landscapes of the desert to create a one-of-a-kind World Championship experience.

Where Champions Race

Bragging rights and Kona aspirations are on the line at this stunning Utah event. St. George, Utah plays host to this iconic early-season race as it returns to its IRONMAN roots in a big way in 2022, with the IRONMAN North American Championship St. George. Athletes vying for one of the coveted 75 Kona qualifying slots will be able to test their mettle in the shadows of the stunning red rock canyons in St. George, Utah.

The swim will be held at the scenic Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane Utah. The water temperature is expected to be between 60 and 64 degrees Fahrenheit. The swim will feature a rolling start.

Starting at Sand Hollow Reservoir athletes will exit transition and the bike course will showcase the spectacular views of St. George, Washington County, and the red rocks of the Southwest.

The run course will be a high energy experience with the great volunteer and spectator support St. George is known for, and it will feature beautiful views of St. George and the red rocks that wrap the city.
