Introducing IRONMAN 70.3 Washington Tri-Cities, a landmark late-season event in the heart of Washington wine country, where the wine flows like water and the sun never stops shining. Boasting more than 200 wineries within 50 miles, this region of Washington is well known for its award-winning wines. Beyond the vine, Tri-Cities is truly an outdoor recreation mecca, thanks to its endless network of waterways, miles of hiking trails, and 300+ days of sunshine. Nestled at the confluence of the Snake, Yakima, and Columbia Rivers, Tri-Cities is within easy driving distance of Spokane, Seattle, and Portland. The inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Washington Tri-Cities offers easy race logistics and a centralized venue. On race day, you will take on a 1.2-mile downriver swim in the iconic Columbia River, a 56-mile rolling bike through scenic wine country, and a flat, 13.1-run through parks and on paved trails, finishing at a festive finish line at Columbia Point Park. Go with the flow in Tri-Cities, Washington, the perfect backdrop for your end-of-summer race-cation.
Swim Course
This downstream, point-to-point swim in the iconic Columbia River will start 1.2 miles upstream from transition. Athletes will enter the water at Howard Amon Park, near the Lee Boulevard Boat Dock. Athletes will exit the water at the beautiful Columbia Point Park and run to transition, located in the grass athletic field. This is a great course for spectators, who will have plenty of chances to watch the entire swim as they walk along the river on the Riverfront Trail.
Bike Course
Upon exiting the water, athletes will start their 56-mile journey through country roads, scenic wine country, and neighborhood streets in the Tri-Cities area. With around 1,800 feet of elevation gain, this bike course offers a rolling, scenic tour of Eastern Washington before ending back at transition at Columbia Point Park.
Run Course
The IRONMAN 70.3 Washington Tri-Cities run course is a flat, 13.1-mile run through parks and on paved trails. Athletes will have great river views through most of the out-and-back course. Spectators will have plenty of spots to cheer on their athlete! The run culminates at a festive finish line at Columbia Point Park.
