Les Sables d’Olonne, translated as “the sands of Olonne”, is a seaside town on the western French coast, the Côte de Lumière. The region features a stunning array of landscapes, from picturesque beaches and jagged coastlines to pine forests and wetlands. After the innaugural race in 2019, the canal swim, bike through the forest, and half-marathon along Les Remblai promenade has made IRONMAN 70.3 Les Sables d’Olonne an instant sensation.
Swim
The one-loop 1.9 km (1.2 mile) swim starts at the Promenade Clémenceau, with athletes competing in the historic Vendée Globe canal during. Pace yourself even if the spectators all around the canal are pushing you to go fast!
Bike
The one-loop 90 km (56 mile) bike course takes you to the East of the city and into the Olonne forest. Beyond, the breathtaking French country challenges athletes with some hills and turns. Elevation gain : 600m
Run
The three-loop 21.1 km (13.1 mile) run course starts on the famous promenade des Sables d’Olonne. Competitors will run on the promenade along the Tanchet Lake and cross the finish line in the center of town. Bonus: 200m to run on the beach!
