Racing in the Southernmost Point of Taiwan
Kenting is surrounded by sea on all three sides: the Taiwan Strait, the Bashi Channel, and the Pacific Ocean, with warm climate throughout the year, which has made it a paradise for all kinds of outdoor activities.
During winter, the famous downhill wind offers an even unique and challenging experience to ride on the course. But do not worry, each section and steps will gradually lead you to be immersed in the nature, enjoy amazing view of the southern tip of Taiwan, and when you back to the downtown area, the bustling street scenes offer a vibrant mix of shopping, dining, and entertainment options that will leave you captivated.
If you would like to see much more than just the race during your trip, IRONMAN 70.3 Kenting is one of the best choice to experience the holiday vibes in the whole city!
Swim
The 1.9KM swim takes place in the crystal clear waters of the Little Bay in Kenting, and athletes will be released in a rolling start format.
The course runs in a ‘M shape’ direction (from left to right). Athletes will exit the water up the culvert to Howard Beach Resort, passing through the wash area, hallway and stairs into the transition area.
Bike
On the bike course, athletes are able to enjoy the boundless sea views of Southern Taiwan coastline and local sceneries of Pingtung. Cyclists will exit the transition area from Howard Beach Resort, head right onto the Provincial Highway 26 along the coast.
After passing Nanwan and the Third Nuclear Power Plant, athletes have to turn left at Nanguang Road and then turn left again to go onto Pingtung 153 Road. Riding onto the Pingtung 153 Road, athletes will pass several famous Pingtung attractions such as Baisha, Houwan, and National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium. Athlete will continue along Checheng Coastal Scenic Highway where you will be able to enjoy the view of the spacious Guishan Bridge and Fu’an Bridge.
After turning left onto Provincial Highway 26 and riding about 10KM forward, it means that athletes complete the half of the bike course. Athletes can enjoy the gorgeous view again from another angle on the way back and follow the same route back to transition.
Run
The run course starts at the Transition Area at Howard Beach Resort. After completing two loops, the course finishes at the Finish Line near the Howard Beach Resort Transition Area.
