Hosted in the young and dynamic seaport town on the south coast of the Baltic Sea in Poland, IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia is known for its electric atmosphere. Featuring a swim in the Gdańsk Bay, athletes can look forward to a challenging bike through Kashubia region and a run traversing the sea boulevards and the busiest streets of Gdynia.
The one-loop 1.9 km (1.2 mile) swim course takes place in the Bay of Gdansk. Athletes swim away from the beach in a straight line for 1 km (0.6 mile) before taking a right turn back to the harbour where they enter transition.
The one-loop 90 km (56 mile) bike course leads through the picturesque Kashubia region and is mostly flat and fast. Don’t be fooled though: There’s a nice climb right after leaving the city of Gdynia and rolling hills further out.
The three-loop 21.1 km (13.1 mile) run course leads along the main touristic street in Gdynia called “Swietojanska Str.” as well as along the seaside boulevards. Get ready for some serious partying at the finish line with thousands of spectators watching you.
