Nestled in the Ruhr metropolitan area of the northwestern German state, North Rhine-Westphalia, the city of Duisburg is perched at the confluence of the Rhine and Ruhr rivers. Home to the world’s largest inland port, with 21 docks and 40 kilometres of wharf, the city has become a hotbed for cultural festivals, inspiring events, amusement parks, idyllic lake landscapes and now, Germany’s newest IRONMAN 70.3 race. Finish the race in the ‘Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena’ home to the MSV Duisburg football club, also known as ‘Die Zebras’.
Swim
The one-loop 1.9 (1.2 mile) ROKA swim course is located on historic grounds and the regatta course of the Sportpark Duisburg. Spectators can get up, close and personal to their on their athletes – be ready for some serious goosebumps!
Bike
The one-loop 90 km (56 mile) Ventum bike course takes you through the heart of the “Steel City” and the Ruhrgebiet. The course then turns back to the Sportpark Duisburg where the athletes get ready for the run course.
Run
The three-loop 21.1 km (13.1 mile) HOKA One One run courses takes athletes past the swim course and through the park-like landscape around Duisburg. Be ready to step on the big stage for your finish – it’s located right inside the MSV Duisburg football stadium!
