Big Texas energy meets endurance excellence. Welcome to the inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Dallas–Little Elm.
This year, the triathlon stage gets bigger, bolder, and unmistakably Texan. Just outside the heart of Dallas, this brand-new race blends the skyline spirit of an iconic city with the natural beauty of Lewisville Lake. It’s where Texas-sized grit meets lakeside energy – and where athletes from across the globe will come to chase finish lines and create unforgettable memories.
With the charm of a lakefront community and easy access from the Dallas–Fort Worth metro, Little Elm provides the views while you provide the speed. The course offers a stunning swim in calm, open water, followed by a fast and rolling bike route through North Texas landscapes, and a spirited run lined with cheering spectators and big Texas pride. Whether you’re chasing a PR or looking for your perfect match for a first time IRONMAN 70.3, this is the one to circle on your calendar.
A race with heart. A city with hustle. A finish line that’s all yours.
Swim
The one-loop, 1.2-mile swim will take place in Lewisville Lake, with both the start and finish located at Little Elm Beach. Historical water temperatures in March range from 54°F to 60°F, making for a high probability for a wetsuit-legal swim.
The largest beach in North Texas, Little Elm provides an ideal setting for spectator viewing, enhancing both the athlete and the fan experience.
Bike
The bike course heads north of Little Elm, showcasing quiet two-lane roads through scenic North Texas countryside. Athletes will ride past open farmland and long stretches of smooth pavement, creating a fast and enjoyable experience.
This is a gently rolling course with approximately 1,400 feet of elevation gain, enough to keep it honest without overwhelming athletes. The terrain offers a steady rhythm of gradual inclines and descents that reward smart pacing and steady power.
Urban sections feature smooth concrete and straightaways that keep things flowing, while rural stretches provide wide-open views and excellent road conditions. Notably for a Texas event, the surface is high quality with no chip seal!
Run
Well-maintained and consisting of hard-packed crushed gravel, the Little Elm nature trail system offers a smooth and consistent running surface. The three-loop design is not only packed with energy and triathlete comradery, it is spectator friendly. A flat and fast course, the residential areas are well suited for accessibility and community support.
