Located in the heart of Kazakhstan on the windswept northern steppe, Astana (formerly known as Nur-Sultan) has been transformed into a 21st-century showpiece. Known for its stunning architecture and marvellous city skyline, Nur-Sultan is a hub of entertainment and business in Kazakhstan. A swim in the Ishrim river and finish on the promenade are highlights of this course, perfectly suited to personal bests.
Swim
The one-loop 1.9 km (1.2 mile) swim starts with swim in the Ishim river which the athletes will enter via a ramp. Athletes follow the course counter-clockwise and exit the course at the river back and head into transition.
Bike
The 90 km (56 mile) bike course starts and finishes at the Astana Triathlon Park. The course takes athletes outside the city center and offers exciting views on the city’s skyline and the banks of the Ishim river.
Run
The 21.1 km (13.1 mile) run course once again starts and finishes at the Astana Triathlon Park which was specifically created for endurance events. Athletes run through the city’s parks on a flat and fast surface.
