Race in one of Mexico’s classic beach towns
The IRONMAN 70.3 Acapulco will feature a stunning swim in a natural bay with crystal clear waters surrounded by the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains. A quick bike course is followed by a delightful run through the hotel district and beside the Princess Mundo Imperial Hotel.
Swim
1.9 kilometers/1.2 miles The swim will be a rolling start. Athletes will enter the water in a continuous stream through a controlled access point, similar to how running road races are started. An athlete’s times will start when they cross timing mats at the start line. Athletes will be directed to self-seed on race morning based on their projected swim time. Volunteers and staff will be in the starting area with signs and will assist with this process. Self-seeding will not be mandatory but will be encouraged.
Swim start will be in Playa Majahua right next to Marina Cabo Marques.
Bike
Transition 1 and bike start are inside the Marina Cabo Marques. The first 600 meters (0.3 miles) of the course are in a hill climb. Immediately after is a bumpy descent, and after that, the route is flat, going through Blvd de las Naciones and Viaducto Diamante. The course ends in front of Pierre Mundo Imperial Hotel, where T2 is located.
The course is flat and fast, with only some minor hills. The pavement is in very good condition. Aid stations are located every 8.6 miles aprox. Time limit for bike stage is 5 hours and 30 minutes after the last athlete starts the swimming stage.
Run
Start and finish will be in front of Pierre Mundo Imperial Hotel. The run course is completely flat and perfectly paved.
It will be run in Av de las Palmas road, and will be marked every mile and every 5 kms. Aid stations will be located every kilometer (.62 miles).
Time limit for the complete event is 8:30 hours from the moment the last athlete starts the swimming stage.
