The Hyner Half is a 14-mile trail race in the heart of the PA Wilds. This course consists of some of the Eastern States 100 trails in Sproul State Forest. This is a runner-only event and has a strict 5.5 hour time limit. Post race food and beverages provided.
The Hyner Half Trail Race is just that….it’s a race. Some runners will be racing to place while others may be racing the clock. Runners will have 5.5 hours to complete the course. The trails that we have selected will keep runners moving through some very diverse terrain on some of the best trails in Sproul State Forest. There will be three aid stations–mile 4, 8, and 11.5. There will be prizes for the top 3 male and female finishers and a picnic afterwards. Hyner Run State Park is a beautiful place for a race and also has a swimming pool for runners to use throughout the day.
The Hyner Half is open to runners/speed hikers only. Aid stations and timing for this race are based on a strict 5.5 hour cut-off and “walking” this course would make it impossible to finish in time. All runners must enter a qualifying event and time before being an official participant. Here’s the basic rule—list any race that shows you plan on running at least parts of the course. This event was not designed for walkers. Speed hikers are allowed.
We’re also offering a shorter distance (7K) for those who want to take on the first big climb and the last downhill of the Hyner Half course, but don’t feel like doing the entire 14 miles. Make no mistake though, this route gives you over 1000 feet of elevation gain and 1000 feet of loss in just 4.5 miles.
Registration is open to the first 225 runners. No Refunds. No Deferrals. No bandits. No exceptions.
