Honeysuckle and Horse Patty Half Marathons

Come explore the longest rail trail in Kentucky, and promote a great cause! All proceeds from these races will be used to support the RiteCare Speech Therapy Program at the Highlands Autism Center. This program a function of the Valley of Covington Scottish Rite Foundation provides free speech therapy to 2 to 5 year old children, who do not have an alternate means of payment.

Each Half Marathon has a custom unique finisher medal, which when combined will make one large custom medal. Mile with Mom event will have a separate T-Shirt but no finisher medal. Each race will be timed separately, but if you run both it will be reported as a total time from the beginning of the race and a full marathon complete.

The Honeysuckle Half Marathon begins at 8:00 a.m. from the Royalton Festival Field this course travels 6.55 miles towards the Narrows, through the Gun Creek Tunnel, before returning along the same path. This section of the course passes through some beautiful places in Eastern Kentucky, from hidden hollows to awe inspiring elevated rail road trestles converted for foot, bike and horse travel.

The Horse Patty Half Marathon starts at 10:00 a.m. from the Royalton Festival Field towards the location of the Tip Top Tunnel. You will travel across many new features in the Dawkins Trail before returning to the Royalton Festival Field. This section crosses through many beautiful farms and is a favorite area for people to walk their horses through, so watch your step!
