The High Mountain Half Marathon features a scenic road course through pine trees, surrounded by mountains, and general elevation decline with rolling hills. Cool temperatures with highs usually in the 80s. Closed to traffic (outbound lane) between the start and mile 2, as well as between mile 10 and the finish.

Loved this race. The altitude made it challenging, 7000-8000 ft but it’s a downhill course with great views. Plenty of room on the course and not running into 5k and 10k runners. Crowd support was good too towards end of race. Weather was perfect in August and a nice escape from PHX heat. Production was solid lots of aid stations, port of potties, end of race had plenty of food and they had some really cool finisher medallions and custom made wood trophies for top finishers. Very neat. I absolutely loved the pre race swag we got, it was an assortment of random local products made and sold locally and in Pinetop. One of the best if not the best half marathon experiences I’ve ever had. Everyone was so friendly and nice. Our volunteer lady in the bus ride up to the start line even gave us some Pinetop/Lakeside trivia. So cool! Definitely recommend checking out and this won’t be the last time I do it.
