On July Fourth we celebrate FREEDOM, Freedom from Tyranny, Freedom from Asphalt, Freedom of Spirit and Freedom to Choose Your Distance from 2 miles, 5 km, 10 km, 10 miles and Half Marathon (13.1 miles) The run/walk is held on a gravel bike path and wooded trails.

It is held in conjunction with the July Fourth Festivities in Newport and Derby.

Last year we added a Half Marathon distance to your options, It expands the views of Lake Memphremagog and the islands of Derby Bay. Post run we offer up some ice cream and watermelon.

We hold this run in memory of and in honor of Harry Corrow. a beloved Recreation Director in Newport City who suffered severe, masked depression and committed suicide. 20% of all fees are dedicated directly to the National Alliance on Mental Illness Vermont to support their suicide prevention efforts.
