The race is held in Waxahachie’s Getzendaner city park that is mostly closed to traffic. Course is 90% on concrete sidewalks, 10% dirt/gravel. This is a beautiful, FAST, FLAT & Tree-lined out-n-back course!
The Waxahachie Running Club is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization that promotes running and walking in Ellis County, which is south of Dallas, TX. We are a friendly, family-oriented group that welcomes all levels; from beginners in our 5k training program up to competitive marathoners, ultra-marathoners, trail-runners and triathletes. Our goal is to bring runners and walkers together encouraging safe, friendly fun-runs. Started in June of 2011 we have grown to over 1900 members.

The race production is excellent. From the event organizers through the many volunteers – great race/run. I ran as part of a relay last year (2017) and decided to complete the 50 miler this year. 5 10-mile loops are just enough for a good change of pace versus smaller loops for the same 50 miles and it is relatively flat. The first loop 50 mile starts at 5 AM and when you head back in the sounds of nature are amazing. It does get hot and since there was a heavy rain the day before it was a very humid run as well but that is just race weather in Texas. The swag for the 50 mile endurance run is excellent. The trophies were awesome, the finishers’ medal is a buckle and you get your own camping chair with the event name embossed on it. First rate. This is a small event and I hope that while it is growing that it does not get too large. It does sell out so if you want a Spring 50 mile/50k/26.2 event – this one might be the ticket. Be aware that the Scarborough Renaissance Festival is also going on so reserve your hotel early if you need one.
