The Gibraltar Marathon will start at 8.30 in the morning (sunrise is 8.15), cut-off time is 6 hours at 2.30 pm. There will only be one start for all participants at 8.30. Start and finish area will either be at the end of the East Beach Road or close to the Caleta Hotel.
We will run on East Beach Road for about 500m to turn left on to Sir Herbert Mile Road and along this road slightly uphill towards the tunnel in southern direction for another 2km. We would run these 2.5km out and back covering approx. 20m elevation on each loop of 5km, so 8.5 loops in total.
There will not be much traffic on Saturday morning, but all participants must take care, as the foot paths are sometimes a bit narrow (between 1 to 4 meters wide)! There are also no crossings of major roads, just small roads down to some houses.
The route has magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea and the “Rock” and will have sun in the morning. We reserve the right to change the route on a short notice basis!
There will be one water/refreshment point (every 5km) with water, coke, fruits, etc. and the manual lap counting and timing (2 volunteers required) at this start and finish area. No service at water point (unless we have volunteers), help yourself! Please bring and use your own cup, no littering on the running route, in case of violation race disqualification may apply!
No toilets, locker room or showers available. Kit bags may be stored at the Start area at your own risk. Due to car traffic “plugs in your ears” are not allowed, in case of violation race disqualification may apply!
Awards will be presented at the “Biancas” restaurant, 6/7 Admiral’s Walk, Marina Bay, Gibraltar on Saturday evening 7 o’clock.
An entry fee of approx. 26 to 28 Euro is payable at packet pickup and is based on a non-profit basis and includes the costs to stage the race, Start number, Finisher T-shirt and Medal, Prizes as well as a Certificate of Participation and List of Results (via email a few days after the race).
