Giving back
This race and its director help to maintain the trails used for the event. We have put in over 3500 man hours of trail work on this course! From chainsawing blowdowns, to clearing overgrown trails, to doing intense digging to widen the trails and even building steps, we do it all! Run Bum Races also donates money directly to the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy.
Forever dedicated to Victor Mariano
This race is forever dedicated to Victor Mariano. Victor was our best friend, a husband, a father, a step father, a volunteer, a trail maintainer, race timer and one hell of a person. He either ran and or volunteered for every edition of the race except for Covid year until his untimely passing in August of 2025. There was not a single person who ran our races that he didn’t positively affect even without their knowing. He worked on the trail clearing trees, building water diversions, building steps and clearing some of the overlooks.
Before he passed he asked us to dedicate the race to him this year. He loved this race. It was his first ever trail race. We want to honor him for the lifetime of this race even if it outlives us. Because legends live forever.
We love you now and always!
