The Fiddle 50 is named after our venue, Fiddle Park, which has the honour of hosting the The Canadian Open Old Time Fiddle Championship, which dates back to 1951.
All races feature the same 1 kilmetre square loop around the Park, and it is pretty darn flat! In fact, we are going to go out on a limb and say it is Canada’s flattest 100K! You will change direction every hour so you don’t get dizzy! The surface is similar to a rail trail, hard-packed dirt.
The facility has indoor washrooms and showers. We have access to a full service kitchen so our aid station will be stocked There is a covered shelter that can be used for sun, harsh weather or just when you need a break. Lots of space to park on a grassy field.
Swag
Each finisher will receive our custom fiddle medal as well as a logo’d swag item!
FREE Fiddle 50 Neck Gaiter to the first 50 to sign up, also available to purchase.
Aid Station/Cup-Free Event
We will offer an array of typical salty and sweet snacks, electrolytes, water, ice, hot soup (after dark), etc. If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, we suggest you bring your own to be safe.
This is a CUP-FREE event, therefore you will need to bring your own handheld, hydration pack or bottle to fill. We are working on a 250ml flask that will be available for purchase with registration and at event.
Relay Teams
50K x 2 Relay (100 loops total) – team can consist of 4 to 6 runners.
How you divide up the loops is up to you but each runner must complete a full loop before switching out in area marked for transition.
Runners must wear the chipped bib in order for loops to count; therefore, you will need to remember to transfer it from runner to runner.
All team members will receive a medal and swag item.
Come up with a fun name for your team, we encourage tongue-twisters that will mess up our announcer!
If you have a Corporate Sponsor for your team, send us their logo and we’ll acknowledge it on our website and on race day (hint: get them to cover your race fees!)
Only the team captain needs to register, we will contact the captain for all runners’ details leading up to race day.
Cutoff/Drop Bags/Shelter
The cutoff time for the 100K is 17 hours.
There is ample space along the route to setup your own spot for a drop bag. We will have a designated spot under the shelter for drop bags as well.
You are more than welcome to bring a shelter (no larger than 10′ x 10′ please) and we will direct you where to set it up.
Awards
Overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers male/female in solo events will be acknowledged atop our podium with a custom award. Top Relay teams will earn a sweet shareable prize too!
