Packet pickup was easy, plenty of good snacks afterward.
This half also has a 5k and 10k and kid’s run, but the course is pretty well laid out, and didn’t overlap with too many of the 10kers at the beginning. The hills were small, short, and not too many, but kinda steep, especially the last one at mile 12. Only course complaint was that certain sections seemed to have a fair amount of cars – mostly not too fast, mostly with wide shoulders, but some narrow and fast bits.
I’d be tempted to do it again, but this was to get Arkansas on my list of completed halves.

Packet pickup was easy, plenty of good snacks afterward.
This half also has a 5k and 10k and kid’s run, but the course is pretty well laid out, and didn’t overlap with too many of the 10kers at the beginning. I ran this as part of a 50 state journey. The race was well organized. The course was hilly as the entire area is hilly. The surface was a mix of roads, sidewalks and a paved bikeway. There were course marshals and good signage along the entire course. The water stops were well managed. The long sleeve tshirt is comfortable and something I’d wear again. The medal is nice too. The expo is very small so travel with everything you feel you will need.

I was looking for something away from my city and stumbled upon the Fayetteville Half Marathon. This community seems to have nothing but hills, and steep ones at that, so I was sure this half marathon would be mostly hills throughout the historical town and university. However, the course was two loops, relatively flat, and through a much newer section of town. Overall, the race was very well executed and the fellow runners were an absolute blast to be around.

This is a small race. The course is pretty easy, fairly flat. The organizers were very supportive and kind. The course was left open for the last finisher. The thing I struggled with on this race was the lack of people. We ran most of the course without seeing anyone else. It was pretty demotivating, although we’re slow and the experience may have been different if we were more with the pack.

This race is great. It’s great if you want to run it with friends and it’s great if you’re after a PR. It’s not flat, but all of my PRs are on hilly courses. There’s plenty of scenery to look at. You’ll see the typical campus scenery and the natural beauty of the Arkansas hills and the color change of the trees. The organization and production is top notch. I’ll be back for sure.

I was pleasantly surprised with the Fayetteville Half Marathon. Great organization, production and support. Beautiful course with a lot of variety to look at. College campus, cityscapes, country scenes and nature. This is a great course to run fast on, except for the last two miles: watch your steps.
