A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING. . . A LOT TO LOVE. The 14,000-acre Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park spans Putnam and Dutchess Counties. It is situated in a historic iron-mining area. Fahnestock truly offers “a little bit of everything” with its varied landscape which includes hemlock gorges, bald ridge hilltops, second-growth hardwood forest, mountain laurel thickets, and numerous lakes, ponds and streams. The trails challenge while the scenery delights.
For the trail runner, it is a veritable smorgasbord of terrain with numerous runnable doubletrack trails, winding single tracks, technical ascents and descents, and farm trails. The trails challenge while the scenery delights. There are 360-degree views at hilltops, beautiful pastoral vistas, and lakeside scenes that make a run through this park a memorable experience.
The Fabulous Fahnestock Trail Races provides racers with a tour of all that the park offers. New trail runners will find a challenging but manageable experience, while experienced trail runners will find ample opportunity to push the pace while showing off some fancy footwork. Every step of this course is runnable – if you dare!
Racers will find ample support along the course with multiple aid stations and course marshals to guide runners. The race begins and ends at the iconic Taconic Outdoor Education Center. The TOEC provide a secluded yet welcoming setting in which to recover and relax after the race.
Whether you choose to run the 50k, the 25k or the 5.5 miler, you’ll witness the beauty of fabulous Fahnestock State Park.
A portion of the proceeds from this fabulous event will go to support Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park itself, the remainder will be used to support Run Wild’s general mission of land conservation and stewardship.
The Fabulous Fahnestock Trail Races Event is presented by Run Wild, Inc. Run Wild, Inc. is a NYS not-for-profit whose mission is to raise funds for land conservation and stewardship in the Hudson Valley and beyond, by organizing running races and through other fundraising activities.
