Ely Marathon and Boundary Waters Half

The Ely Marathon (a USATF certified race and Boston Qualifier) begins on the North Arm of Burntside lake and turn onto the historic Echo Trail. Coast toward Shagawa Lake on this challenging and beautiful course. A slight detour through charismatic Winton puts you close to a quick loop around Miner’s Lake and finish in downtown Ely. Take in Ely and surrounding wilderness on this superb fall run.

The half marathon will take place on the full marathon route, highlighting the views of Shagawa Lake, Miner’s Lake, Winton and ending in historic Ely. Reserve your spot for the “4000ish rod portage”.

Marathon not challenging enough for you? Portage a canoe! Full marathon racers will start and run the same course as the full marathon (must be able to finish within 6.5 hours). Half marathon racers will start and run the same course as the half marathon (must be able to finish within 6.5 hours).
