Welcome back to Norris-Penrose Events Center / Bear Creek Park!
Jan 1, 1979, the Rescue Run Start/Finish was at Norris-Penrose Events Center. In 1995, we moved the Rescue Run to Palmer Park. In 2021, due to the Covid Pandemic we held a Virtual Rescue Run. For the 2022 event, we took the course back to its roots at Norris-Penrose. But rather than run on the streets as we did in the 80’s and 90’s, we run on the trails of Bear Creek Park East.
LOCATION: Start/Finish Norris-Penrose Events Center 1045 Lower Gold Camp Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80905
REGISTRATION: No race day registration. Online registration ends Dec 31, 6:00 pm Mountain Time.
TRAIL CONDITIONS: Please expect ice in places on trails, and especially wooden bridges. There are shaded areas down near the creek which will hold ice from any recent snow. Wearing shoe traction is at your discretion
PARKING: There are two large lots with plenty of parking available. Please allow time to enter the center and get parked. The southern lot, closest to start/finish closes at 9:20 to allow kids races in the lot. At that time all traffic is directed to the northern lot.
POTTIES: We add more every year, but there is always a line. Please allow time. If you are in line and the race starts, don’t panic, the starting mat will still be active.
El Paso County Search and Rescue (EPCSAR)
Proceeds of this event go to El Paso County Search and Rescue (EPCSAR). EPCSAR provides search and rescue services primarily in the jurisdiction of El Paso County, Colorado. However, the team also responds to requests for assistance from other counties through a cooperative arrangement with the Colorado Search and Rescue Board.
From the summit of Pikes Peak to the plains or eastern El Paso County and anywhere in between, the EPCSAR team is ready to help. Responding to calls for those who are lost, injured, or ill on a trail or in the forest, stranded, lost, or experiencing a medical emergency during a blizzard, any time of day or night, these dedicated volunteers stand ready to respond, 24/7/365. All members purchase their own equipment and contribute hundreds of volunteer hours to the community.
EPCSAR never charges for their services.
Donations made during race registration will NOT be charged a processing fee.
