Dusseldorf Marathon

The Düsseldorf Marathon is an annual marathon race in Düsseldorf, Germany in early April. Organised by Jan-Henning Winschermann, the race was first held in 2003.The course runs through parts of the city and alongside the banks of the Rhine. The route is generally a flat one, and the Düsseldorf Marathon is an official Boston Marathon qualifier.

A city – two rivers. The Düssel gave her the name, the Rhine the meaning. The former fishing village at the mouth of the idyllic Düssel in the Rhine river looks back on more than 800 years of moving history. Counts and electors shaped the roots of today’s metropolis. Goethe’s visit left traces in “Poetry and Truth”, Napoleon’s visit was nicknamed “Little Paris”. The poet Heinrich Heine praised his birthplace, she was “very beautiful”.
