Back in 2012 this was my 17th race. Today it was run #231. This my fifth go around and it’s pretty much the same every year.
It takes place at the Tustin Marketplace and benefits the Tustin Unified School District. As such, there is big accent on kids and there are plenty of them out there in running groups and with their parents. The expo features alot of stuff for kids and local merchants talking up their products. Parking at the Marketplace is plentiful.
The Runs are spaced with the 10K starting at 7:15am and the 5K starting at 8:30am. My only complaint were the parents trying to cram their kids at the front of the start line which is both annoying and dangerous. As always the MC’s should help police this.
The course was flat on open streets with plenty of room to run after the start. Mile 2 includes a hill overpass and is mostly exposed. If a hot day would happen if could get miserable but today wasn’t bad.
Medal at the finish and plenty of fruit!
