About Faith Runs Global Event
Community Bible Church is planning our annual Faith Runs Global Sportslife 5K walk/run event.
This event has grown over the years into one of the largest 5K events in San Antonio, with over 1500 people participating. Last year we also saw 13 countries partner with us as it became a global event with a large following on social media. The history of this event has proven to be one of the highlights of our Sportslife ministry at CBC. This year’s event will fall on the momentous day of September 11. It is our desire to celebrate those who serve and have served to make our country a great nation. We expect to be a part of something much bigger than we could have ever imagined as we unite to express our appreciation to our heroes.
Thank you for your consideration in participating in the Faith Runs Global event. This year’s race will benefit the PTSD Foundation of America – San Antonio Chapter.
Upon reflecting on our local heroes, it brings to mind a story about a man named Gideon. The bible tells us in Judges 6 that there was a shortage of food in the land. The Midianites had been terrorizing Gideon’s village, stealing their crops and livestock and Gideon was hiding out trying to thresh wheat at the bottom of a wine press by himself.
Seeing the plight of the people, the Lord visited Gideon, addressing him in the Hebrew language as “Chayil Gibbowr,” meaning “Mighty Man of Valor” or “Mighty Hero” (New Living Translation). God was speaking to Gideon’s potential, not to his present circumstance. At that time Gideon was just trying to survive. But when the Lord came on the scene, he showed Gideon what he looked like from God’s vantage point. The Lord also revealed himself to Gideon as Jehovah Shalom, which means God is Peace. That same peace the Lord revealed to Gideon, He wants to bring to those who have been traumatized in the line of duty for our country.
Gideon would go on to lead an army of 300 to triumph against 120,000 Midianite soldiers. He lived up to the potential spoken over him by the Lord. With your help, we can assist our local heroes by providing them with an opportunity to come out of the wine press to find victory. You are a part of that victory!
This year’s race will feature on campus 5k, Ruck 5k (New), 1-mile option, as well as partnering with Ainsley’s Angels. We are also excited to offer virtual 5K and virtual Cycling (New) as well. The virtual components will also allow the Global community around the world to participate in Honoring our Heroes!
Whether you walk, jog, sprint, or pedal (virtual) we are excited that you will be joining us to honor our local military and first responder Heroes. We thank you again for your participation!
Introducing our CBC Faith Runs Global Beneficiary
CBC is excited to announce that the San Antonio Chapter of the PTSD Foundation of America will be our beneficiary this year. The San Antonio Chapter has been providing and is seeking to enhance their ability to provide meeting facilities, counseling services, employment opportunities, meals, accommodation services and other activities for military/first responders that struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a result of their service to our country. The San Antonio Chapter is also looking to bring Camp Hope to San Antonio. Camp Hope is an intensive residential program that aims to provide a more comprehensive peer support and mentoring based healing for those in need.
Your amazing generosity is the reason we have been able to bless worthy organizations within our community! Your participation is vital! Please consider partnering with the San Antonio Chapter of the PTSD Foundation to help our local military/first responders.
