Sure, you could run just about anywhere in the world! But wouldn’t you prefer to run on a safe, beautiful Caribbean island, surrounded by tropical flora and fauna, charming homes flawlessly landscaped and magnificent views of the sea?
The Cayman Islands Marathon takes place on the first Sunday in December every year. The event consists of a full marathon, half marathon, 4-person relay and a Kids Fun Run. Its reputation is that of a intimate, warm, friendly, well organised event.
The Cayman Islands Marathon is a LOOPED course. Your run will take you along the waterfront of George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands, into the residential area of South Sound which boasts multi-million dollar homes and dazzling views of the ocean and then into the financial district and along the waterfront once again. The race route is IAAF-sanctioned and is flat and fast, ensuring ideal running conditions. If that isn’t enough, there will be music along the route to motivate runners and add some ‘flava’ to the mix.
The Cayman Islands are just 480 miles south and an hour plane ride from Miami, Florida.
With over 80,000 friendly locals to greet you, the Cayman Islands can be found in the most carefree corner of the Caribbean. All three islands have their own personality, reflected by the residents and unearthed in the landscape. From the barefoot elegance of Grand Cayman, to the adventurous spirit of Cayman Brac and the tranquility of Little Cayman, warm smiles and lifelong memories are its major exports.
