Cape Fear 24 Hour Endurance Run (previously known as Dia De Los Muertos 24 Hour) will be held on a USATF-certified/sanctioned, 0.59-mile asphalt paved loop. The trail surrounds Lillington’s Parks and Recreation baseball fields. Most of the trail is flat, except for one small incline. There is plenty of parking and space to setup a site close to your car. Tents will be allowed during the event, but no open-air fires will be allowed. The restrooms are just a few steps off the course. When it gets dark, the Town of Lillington will turn on the park lights so a headlamp will not be necessary. This course will offer you the opportunity to run as far or as little as you want with maximum support.
There will be one, fully stocked aid station with all the typical ultra-buffet foods. Water, Gatorade, and assorted soft drinks will be available. Hamburgers, hotdogs, pizzas and soups will be available later in the day.
We love runners who wear costumes! A special award will be given the participant who runs the most miles in a costume.
All proceeds from the Cape Fear 24 Hour run will be donated to Buddy Backpack of Harnett County.

A must race. Amazing support and food.
The race served ribs!!! Who does that? The food was gourmet. The volunteers and race director looked for ways to help and anticipated runners needs before being asked. MORE

This 24-hour timed event is run around a 0.59 mile loop surrounding the Lillington Parks and Recreation complex. The course was chipped time, and the timekeeper posted distance updates and placing about every two hours. There was a tent with Gatorade, water, coffee, Coca-cola, and ginger ale, along with a wide range of food items including ham or turkey and cheese wraps, avocado wraps, an a wide variety of snack items. In the evening, they fired up a grill and cooked hamburgers and chicken tenders. The timing services and race management were excellent and went off without a hitch. All registered runners were given a short-sleeved t-shirt, and finishers who completed at least 100 miles were given a belt buckle. The weather this year was excellent with clear skies and comfortable temperatures. Inflatable Halloween decorations around the course and costumed runners made for a festive atmosphere. This was a fun event and one that I would consider doing again.
