Why Join the Challenge?
You can help save lives. Colorado has one of the nation’s top ten suicide rates, according to the Center for Disease Control. Colorado also saw an almost 70% increase in fatal fentanyl overdoses from 2020 to 2021, with more than 900 deaths total last year, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
With your help, we will:
– provide free suicide prevention education to community members regardless of ability to pay
– create a network of vending machines and kiosks where people can get NARCAN at no cost
Challenge: Boulder Skyline Traverse
The Boulder Skyline Traverse Challenge is for experienced trail runners and symbolizes the challenges of life. The course is 19+ miles of terrain, rated as difficult, and traverses the five peaks that form Boulder’s iconic Flatiron mountains backdrop. There is a total ascent of 5, 417 feet and a descent of 5,494 feet. This Challenge meets at the trailhead in Boulder with a 5:30 am start time. It finishes at the Ryan Wellness Center in North Boulder. The winner is the charity runner or team that raises the most for Mental Health Partners’ youth suicide prevention education.
Challenge: The Bike Challenge (Virtual)
This Challenge is virtual– participants bike anytime and anywhere. Choose your route, terrain type and choose your distance. Ride solo, create a team, have friends and/or family join you. Share your Bike Challenge with others — everyone joins for charity for Mental Health Partners’ youth suicide education programs. The winner is the charity cyclist or team that raises the most by race day!
Challenge: The Couch Challenge (Virtual)
This “Challenge” takes place from the comfort of your home. Be a solo charity sitter or create a team with others! Charity sitters seek support from family, friends, and coworkers, helping raise for youth suicide prevention education. The winner is the sitter who raises the most by race day!
