Billy Goat Half Marathon Climb & 10K

Billy Goat is a trail run and is run in the wilderness. If you run exclusively on asphalt roads, you will not be prepared for this half marathon. Please familiarize yourself with trail running before attempting this race. Trail running is an exhilarating sport, it teaches us many things like patience, persistence and preparedness to name a few. Of all these, we feel that preparedness is at the top of the list. You MUST be prepared when running in the wilderness. You need to look at a map and familiarize yourself with the mountain area you will be running. When water is offered at an aid station, you must take it, especially when you know the distance between stations is far. Please don’t go out and run a mountain race as you would say a Rock n’ Roll marathon. They are different beasts! We want you to run our race but we also want you to have a safe race. 

Billy Goat begins and ends in the shadows of the Saddleback Mountains in Corona, CA and climbs up to The Main Divide in The Cleveland National Forest. It’s just one hill. Once runners reach The Main Divide, they turnaround for a rolling downhill run back for refreshments & awards at the finish line. (10k turns around at 1st aid station on way up).

The 6+ mile climb up Indian Truck Trail to The Main Divide has an elevation gain of just under 3,000 feet (2500-2800′).
