This is an all women race located in Lowell, MA on a Thursday evening in honor of a member of the Lowell running community who passed away from cancer. It is a very convenient race for me as Lowell is located at the NH/MA border about 20 minutes from me. There was good pre race communication including info about packet pick-up, parking, course info, etc. It was easy to get to and park. Packet pick-up was easy and included a hat with the race logo which a nice swag item. The start was at an athletic complex by a track. There were a number of booths to look at. This is a nice sized race with about 300 runners. It is only open to women runners and is a very empowering, welcoming and friendly environment. There is an option for a walk that starts 15 minutes early and there are women of all abilities participating. The race started on time and just goes through neighborhoods in Lowell. It’s not really exciting scenery but there were a good number of spectators for a smaller, evening 5K and it was just a very fun environment. Difficulty seems average with a few small hills. It was hot but not super hot. There were mile markers and 2 water stops on the course. My finishing time was pretty good and well under 40 minutes. You are cheered for at the finish line and the best part you get a medal! You almost never get medals for 5Ks in New England. I rounded up the swag rating because we actually got a medal. There were also some typical snacks including refreshing watermelon, goldfish crackers, fruit snacks and cold water bottles. Overall I thought this was a great race and is very convenient for me. I will definitely be making this an annual race
