(I signed up for this one before being injured with a back injury that was definitely not ideal for climbing 10,000 feet that first 5 miles.) A huge shout out to the race directors that were friendly and supportive in making sure each runner had what they needed. The day before at the expo, while receiving a generous goodie bag full of surprises, it was nice to see them there presently answering any questions and sharing their experiences of the course. I personally love races where whomever is putting on the event, has run the course and can share true wisdom and experience. That first 5 miles was no joke, especially battling back injury, but just as they said after 5 miles, it’s a smooth sailing. I almost surrender on that climb, as my back was not having it, but walked my way and trusted that after 5 I would be okay, and thankfully that downhill gave me great relief.
The course was beautiful along the way and provided a sense of fresh air running beside the flowing water and greenest trees. So peaceful and serene, just spectacular beauty all around.
At the finish line, there was ample snacks and fresh Crumble cookies and it’s always nice to have ice cool water and refreshing drinks and free massages! I will definitely be back to give this one another go, when I’m all healed up! Great support, super organization, and awesome people!

Beautiful Mountain Course starting at 6am. It is a bit challenging with some uphill at the start, which is 10,000+ feet in elevation, but the scenery cannot be beat running through the canyon. Once you get past the first 5 or so miles the course is downhill and flat at the end when you reach town. The race directors do a phenomenal job on race organization and communication before and after the race. There are busses from town to the start area, which was also well organized, with plenty of porta potties, warm up wraps, bag drop, etc. The course included plenty of well stocked aid stations with friendly supportive volunteers. Great shirt options and useful swag. Beaver is a small town which seems to rally around the race. Finishing area celebration included plenty of food options and and ice cream truck. Received a printed finisher certificate at the finish line. Highly recommend this marathon!

Great event!! The course is fast, but not as fast as I thought going into it. It is essentially entirely downhill, with an exception of a few hills at the beginning. The hills at the beginning are not super steep, but long enough to throw a wrench in your plans for a pace you can only maintain running downhill. However, once I got over how poorly I underestimated the hills, I really enjoyed the course. Up and down was a lot of fun, and was a break break from the constant downhill only marathons in the state.

The race was a little chilly until exiting the canyon (next year will be a few months earlier so weather should be perfect), but each participant was given hat and gloves before the race.

Race directors did an exceptional job, course was well marked, volunteers were plentiful and amazing. Lots of motivational cheering at each aid station. Swag bags had lots of good coupons to local Beaver shops, and had lots of fun little giveaways from sponsors. Finish line was great, massages available and plenty of good post race food and music.

I stayed up at Eagle Point Ski Resort because my family was a little worried about riding the bus up to the start line and so that I could “sleep in” a little more. It was perfect, and allowed us to drive the course backwards the day before. I ran to the startline which was about a mile from my accommodation at the ski resort. It worked perfectly.

The people are great, friendly, the best swag anyone could ever get. The whole town got involved and it was a very welcoming atmosphere. You couldn’t get any better than this. Weather is awesome and a super-fast race. I got my personal best time 11 minutes faster then my record. Highly recommend. It starts at 10,000 feet , I also reccomend getting used to the altitude first. The beginning has some hill repeats. After about miles it is all down hill. Stunning scenery.
    Swag is the best.

Congrats on the huge PR, Rhonda! And glad the organizers did such a great job with their inaugural race, Beaver City must be a beautiful place to run. We were just in your own beautiful hometown last week on our road trip across Southern Utah; I was sad they canceled the marathon this year since I was hoping to make it my first in Utah. On the bright side, that gives me one more thing to look forward to in 2021—or maybe I'll look at Beaver Canyon instead? 🤔 Nice job on the personal best, and thanks for your thoughtful review! LESS
