Start the new year off with the Bear 5 & 10 Mile Race near Bear Canyon, hosted by BRC Events! The snowy mountain views are unlike any others in town and to top it off….. you’ll get to warm up with hot cocoa, coffee, soup, grilled cheese & more after the race!
The Bear is a relatively flat road race with a total vertical gain of around 170 feet per loop. The 5 mile course is a single loop and the 10 mile course is a double loop. The race will take place regardless of weather conditions. In past years, the course has been dry, snowy, and/or icy. If the course is icy, we recommend wearing traction aids.
Your race entry includes a technical Bear race shirt and a post-race hot lunch. The post-race lunch will be held inside the Mount Ellis Academy gymnasium. We’ll be having grilled cheese, tomato soup, coffee and hot cocoa.

The Bear 5 mile / 10 mile run is a perfect mid-winter run as the loop is 5 miles, so you run 2 loops for the 10 miler. Did you sign up for the 10 miler but feel like you can make it? You can turn in at 5 and then adjust your division. The roads are typically pretty clear, and the awards, food, and camaraderie are fantastic! I’ve run The Bear 4 years now, and I always enjoy this run!
