Aabenraa Bjergmarathon (Aabenraa Mountain Marathon)

Welcome to the Aabenraa Mountain Marathon, one of the country’s best exercise races.

Mountain races can attract runners because the routes are demanding. But they can also scare runners away – for the same reason. In Aabenraa, things have gone up in unity. Aabenraa Mountain Marathon offers both hard hills – and thousands of participants. Aabenraa Mountain Marathon has been settled since the turn of the millennium and the route is characterized by few but long climbs. The rises, of which the toughest lies on Hjarupvej, are located on four loops, all of which are based in Aabenraa town. The marathon runners must run all four loops, while those who run shorter distances can settle for one or two loops.

But despite the exciting route, it is not the one that makes the Aabenraa Mountain Marathon something unique. The unique strength of the race is that year after year, so many runners participate in it. The number of participants is approx. 3500, and it is a bit of a business when you consider how many other races are around – running, whose routes are usually somewhat easier to overcome.

The route consists of several undulating loops, all starting from Aabenraa town. At the marathon distance you meet five large hills (50-75 height meters per piece). The race is traditionally among the Danish exercise races that attract most participants.

Starting from the city center, the hills around Aabenraa run out. There are hotspots and many spectators on the route.

Storetorv forms the framework around the running center, where there is a large screen and a cool atmosphere. There are medals for everyone and finisher T-shirt for the half and marathon runners.

For the morning refreshments, breakfast is served in the Marathon lounge at 9:00.
