Great race but those first 3 miles are no joke. They kicked my butt and made me cry, lol. Once you get to the top it feels like your running on the forest moon of Endor. The only disappointment Brazen cant control is the mountain bikers. Some of the bikers are inconsiderate and try to ride on the single track when its packed with runners and get upset cause they cant fo their normal ride on this one day.

Once again Brazen Racing put on a top notch race. Summer breeze the sister race to Bay breeze is an easy course along the bay in San leandro and Hayward. The weather is always great for running and the course can lead itself for an easy PR. The only knock I have on the course is depending on the tide, the smell of rotting vegetation can be a bit overwhelming.
The aide stations are always stocked with great volunteers and anything you could ever need for a race.

This was my second Rebel challenge and 2nd year of doing it as a part of Dopey wars ( ran dopey challenge at WDW week prior). I have to say I have a love/hate relationship with Disney. I love it cause I love going to Disney and they have great medals, and swag. I hate it because people dont take these races seriously. I started in D corral with my 10k and B corral for the half. So people who lied or cheated on their proof of time get seeded a head of me. Problem is these people clog the course and make it harder for people to run. I had to weave and push my way through groups of walkers walking 4 abreast in narrow areas (against race etiquette). Also this year with pictures in the park Disney was cutting picture lines so those of us in the back never got a chance at a picture. I was 35 min ahead of the sweepers and actually as i was passing mile 5 of the course they were at 3.5. I got to the R2D2 line and they closed the line…. I never got a chance to take a picture even though I busted my butt to have that chance to. For you to have the full disney experience you need to go out of the first 3 corrals to have a chance to enjoy all that disney has to offer. If you start in the back you get screwed by those who dont train and dont care and it makes for a miserable day

While the shirt and medal where top notch, the lack of organization doesnt make up for it. I signed up on the first day of registration and there was no tab for my shirt size and it took months of emails to get my size requested. The host hotel offered was a dump, and my favorite when I signed up there was to be no beach running. Yet when I got there to run the race there was now 3 miles of the course on the beach. Their idea of hard packed sand was soft sand hard to run on. The expo was in the Ron Jon surf shop parking lot so to get to the expo you had to illegally park. The course was a lot of narrow roads, parking lots to make up distance and beach miles which got old fast. After the race the food and beer lines where ridiculous. Dont bother doing this race for the bling, just do the virtual option and find another Florida race

Wow what can I say the Blerch got me…. A beautiful course on the trails in WA, but the temptation of cake and couches got me. I rolled up to the first aide station and not only was there a blerch there but big foot too! They invited me to sit and have nutella sandwich and cake with them. So of course I stopped and had some tasty sweet snacks. Everything about this race was awesome from the free pictures, to great tasting cake, awesome medal and shirt, to meeting MATT himself. I would definitely come back to have some cake with the blerch every year. My one complaint is that the half marathon started a little late for my taste (9am) and it did get a little warm out there on the trails.

Hoodie sweat shirt instead of T-shirt, Coaster size medal, FOOD food and more food. Plus all I have to do is do 1, 3.1 mile loop and I am a finisher. As a back of the packer, DLF the race directors never make me feel like I never belong. If you want to try an ultra marathon this is a great way to get your feet wet as walking a 50k is very doable on the course. If you want to hang out and eat, listen to music you can do that as well.
