This last years race was beautiful, but we ran through miles and miles of mud! The aid stations were amazing and all the people that hiked and camped to get to the more remote stations were fabulous. This was definitely a challenge but so worth it. I do have to say the town of Dayton did not have much in terms of finding a pre-race supper so if you plan on doing this race, you may want to get something in Sheridan or cook your own.

Let’s talk about hills!! Yah there’s lot of them..like 7.8 miles worth. The first 5 are kind of rolling and you have 2.8 of steady climb….but the best views are at the tops. Then some pretty decents into Keystone. The views of Mt. Rushmore, the pig tail bridges, and the tunnels are all worth it. A few hiccups this year with shuttles and potties…but nothing is ever perfect and it all worked out fine in the end. I’ve been to several Vacation Races and they never disappoint!
