Early on that morning, you could hear the whispering winds of shit. The shit almost clung to the air. The shit pressure was building and THESH Ittiest day of the year was off and running!
5am start. Nobody there.
Early on that morning, you could hear the whispering winds of shit. The shit almost clung to the air. The shit pressure was building and THESH Ittiest day of the year was off and running!
5am start. Nobody there. This race is a hurry up and wait experience for the race director as you never know when people will choose to show up. You can start any time after 5am but need to be back by 5pm to be a finisher. With all 11 Outhouse selfies. 12 if you are lucky and find the mystery shitter. Shhhhh to all that did.
Owen and Jeff arrived shortly after 5:11 and the race was ON! Matt showed up next and after a cozy sleep in the Goulais wilderness so was our 2020 Queen Shit Heather.
The bikers took slightly longer to rouse but eventually showed up and got to crushing shitters with the rest of the runners!
Early reports came back that one of the shitters was already occupied. WITH A PORCUPINE. We gave ample warning to the incoming athletes and no quills were spilled.
Our 2020 King shit Mike later gave us a report of a huge black bear that was curious to see his route lmao.
The decor was on point at the start / finish line as our friend from Blue Phoenix Mechanical was able to source us 6 brand new toilet bowls, “never shat in, only sat in” became the mantra for all who got pictures on the mighty thrones.
The race itself did not disappoint with some hotly contested rivalries for the ladies and men in both disciplines. All in all 50 shitty souls embarked on the journey only to have 23 actually complete the vaunted routes to all the outhouses. Even had 4 people score the mystery shitter! Shhhhhhhh, still a secret everyone.
All told, the top 4 times were all RUNNERS! Yayyyy! I guess lugging those giant conveyances up all those hills and mud puddles is actually a hindrance HAH!

* Double flush- Tara Zauner – Only athlete to ever complete Thesh Itter by Bike (2020) AND on foot (2022) !
* Thesh Ittiest pace – Katie Babcock and Sam Emerson – Walked and ate snacks
* Thesh Ittiest band – The Soo Fighters – Since they were the only band
* Thesh Ittiest outfit – Mike Neil – No idea what the shit he was going to be getting into in those jeans.
Huge shout out to all the puppers that made it out on trail – Cordelia, Hershey, Maui, Louis and Lincoln! Great job doggies and thanks for the “contributions” to the trail.
