I ran this race last year, and the bib pickup was a complete mess. However, the 2026 event was a huge improvement. The pickup process was smooth, organized, and fast, I was in and out with no issues.
Unfortunately, the course still needs significant work. The half marathon course was short, with most runners recording only about 12.8 miles instead of the full 13.1. The bridge section was heavily congested because half marathon runners merged with 10K participants, making it nearly impossible to maintain pace or chase a PR.
The beach section was also overcrowded with walkers, dogs, and strollers. I actually tripped over a dog leash because they weren’t being considerate of the runners on the left. Race participants should not have to dodge pedestrians, dogs, and strollers while trying to run.
The event organizers should consider separating the courses more effectively. The 5K, stroller division, 10K, and half marathon should each have routes that minimize overlap. Keeping the 10K runners from merging with half marathoners on the bridge would greatly improve race experience.
While race-day operations improved dramatically from last year, the course design and congestion issues still need to be addressed.
