This was a really fun race on a totally gorgeous day. The City of Campbell races are always a good time and this was no exception. Things started on time and there were no issues to my knowledge. The swag was pretty good including 10% off at Sports Basement. That said, the t-shirts don’t seem to be the greatest material. The after-race snacks were good and it’s just a generally family friendly atmosphere. Good stuff.

Personally I started out a bit too fast and forgot to drink any water the morning of the race (doh!). I was doing great for the first 3 miles and then started feeling it in the last 3 miles. I pushed as hard as I could and kicked strong at the end, but couldn’t quite get under the 1h mark (my A goal). I did make a new 10k PR (my B goal)!

After training mostly on a track, I really wasn’t ready for some of the up and downs on the course. Also, I could see the finish line, but you had to run past it and then loop back through it which was confusing and caused me to kick it into high gear too soon.

That said, it was an enjoyable course and I had a great time and really enjoyed myself! It was an excellent first 10k!

This was my first race since I’d started actually running again back in June, so I was a bit nervous. I went out too fast, but managed to reign it in within the first mile or so. The second mile felt pretty good and while I was starting to feel it a bit in the third, I pushed as hard as I could.

I’d hoped to get under a 30 minute 5k (something I didn’t think possible even a month or so previous), so I was really happy with this result.

This was a fun race with great participation and a fun vibe. My biggest complaint is that the beer steins promised to participants ran out immediately and I didn’t get one. That did not prevent me from enjoying a post-run beer downtown.
