Skidaway Island was my first race at the half marathon distance. My experience was awesome from start to finish.
Sign up was straightforward with a super generous cancellation and transfer policy. I caught a cold from my kids 2 weeks before race day and was happy to have options.
The course is flat with generous shade. The Landings has many beautiful trees and gorgeous scenery to take in while running.
Crowd support was strong at the aid stations but the majority of the course was quiet. Crowded 5 and 10ks with lots of loud spectators are not my jam. Aid stations were well stocked and spaced evenly throughout the course. The course photographers were friendly and took a lot of great shots (no extra cost for photos).
Packet pickup was straightforward and the start/finish line was full of energy, snacks and clean bathrooms.
I highly recommend this race and I’m excited to run the half (or maybe the full!) next year!
