This race had many water/gu stops, which was great. I felt like we had just stopped at one and another was around the corner. The race was crowded the first few miles given the narrow roads and how everyone is together at the start but after a while the crowds started to thin for the rest of the race. Most of the race is on asphalt, but there are 3-5 miles on gravel/packed dirt that many whom I ran with did not like. You did need to watch your step/ankles. There were some good hills that pushed you but then there were some nice flat stretches too. The food afterwards was ok–some bags of snacks, a clif bar, a banana. The wine fest was a little dissappointing because there were so many spectators/guests there too. The lines to taste the wine were long, especially after you ran for 2+ hrs 🙂 Also, our group thought there would be food trucks or somewhere to get food, but we saw one truck with breakfast food. if there was a restaurant or other area, we were not aware. The medal was great though–and heavy!

My first time running this race and the weather was crazy! Staff did well keeping runners up to date on changes via email. Regardless of the weather, the route was OK. Flat mostly and on tree lined streets, with some DC monument sightings.

The course was an out and back mostly, along the potomac, towards the zoo and back to the memorial. Would have liked to see more of the memorials but not bad scenery. The shirt were nice–long sleeve, wicking. But you had to go downtown DC to the expo to get them. The after food was good and i loved the medal–the airplane rotates!
