Amazingly well organized for such a large race. I love this area of Kansas City, and I love that this race raises money for the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired. It was a lot of fun running a 4-miler instead of a 5 or 10K. The post-race party was huge, with so many free goodies! Next year I will definitely take advantage of the shuttles that run from the parking areas at the finish to the starting area prior to the race. Don’t glaze over the fact that this course is not a loop or you will be walking/jogging another 4 miles back to your car if you parked near the starting line like I did. 🤦♀️

I’m so glad that I picked this event for my first half marathon. It was so well organized and the app was great. The course was hilly from miles 4-6ish and followed a paved park trail for a short distance, which was nice. Am definitely planning to run this next year.

This is a smaller race but is extremely well organized and a lot of fun! The route is fairly kind with only a couple of hills. The event shirt was a nice design and good material, the finishers medals are super cool, and local Martin City eateries provided free breakfast! Meal selections were made at packet pickup, and all I had to hear was the word BUFFET. Kansas City’s own J. Rieger provided free whiskey samples (to those of age) at the finish… and no, they weren’t enforcing a 1-per-runner rule.😁 I definitely look forward to doing this one again next year!

To celebrate the final game of the NCAA Men’s Big 12 Basketball Tournament, this race runs a fairly flat downtown Kansas City course. Runners are encouraged to wear their favorite Big 12 school’s colors, which adds an additional fun element of competition. The course was a little longer than 3.1km, but running through downtown is so much fun it’s a nonissue. Parking was terrible because of construction, but it was FREE, so not really terrible (and not something that could be controlled)! The shirt and medal are definitely among favorites, as well. All in all, I can’t wait to run this race next year.
