It’s really crazy to start a race at 9:30 when the weather is hot and the course is mostly in full sun. I did not push myself at all because of that, and when I finished, there was water and half a banana waiting. Really? This year’s shirts weren’t as good quality as in years before, either. After several disappointing 3W races, I am now checking carefully to find different companies before I sign up.

Having the race wind through the Christkindlmarkt was cool, and I liked having the path along the Monon. It was much easier to navigate than the huge crowd in the building where they used to start. I had fun, and I’ll do it again.

Mounds State Park is beautiful, and the racing is challenging, with lots of hills and a few scary parts. I biffed it hard when I slipped on a patch of ice, but I was able to finish. All the same, I plan to do the race again.
