This was a great race/run with a well thought out course. It featured some of San Diego’s finest waterfront scenery on the back 6+ miles. The choice of a finisher medal, the jacket in lieu of a t-shirt (t-shirts were optional to buy for $20, a bit steep if you ask me), and the experience was top notch. Perhaps a slightly shorter hill at the beginning would be OK but the course has some of the similarities of the America’s Finest City (AFC) half marathon. I liked the competition of the better runners, the qualifier really worked here.

The course itself was overall good, Cliff drive just happens at the wrong time in the run (Approx. at the 10-11 mile mark). The last mile is terrific with the flags handed out by at least one Military officer. Beautiful weather and aid stations were excellent.

Loved the experience in this half marathon. The course is flat/downhill except for 6th avenue at the end. The only thing that may turn off some runners is that this is in August and it can get quite warm, be prepared! The event directors even cautioned us that we may not want to get a PR since the temperature was elevated at race time.
