A lot of support for Alzheimer’s. Motivational.
Weird that it is in a cemetery but I did enjoy it.
Love that there was some food to eat because I didn’t have breakfast.
There was a medal for this year being a 10 year anniversary, but I’ll run this every year. I liked it.
Hapalua Half Marathon
Almost didn't finish, but I did!

First time to walk this. It’s not timed and there are a lot of walkers. I didn’t train and almost gave up but so many people encouraged me to keep going.
At the starting line, there are no corrals. I was at the start but at the side on the sidewalk. At the start I was sucked in with the crowd and had to run or I would be trampled. I didn’t warm up and cramped right away. Walked it off until Mile 3. Scared I was going to give up before half a mile.
Lots of port-a-potty stations and first aid stations. Long lines in the beginning and less as you kept going. The gels and bananas would run out by the time I got to them. Runners get them first.
The last 5 miles is around Diamond Head so slight uphill climb and downhill descent then about 1/2 mile to finish line.
The medal and the shirt at the end are awesome. They also had bananas, shaved ice and yummy malasadas at the finish line.
Bay to Breakers
Always a favorite

Love that it is not timed so walkers are welcome. It was my first time ever to participate in a race. I purchased the full but intended to just go as far as I can go. Went to mile 21 and then needed a medic. After being with the first aid tent for 90 minutes they told me I could finish. The last 5 miles have an uphill climb in it (Diamond Head). I said I couldn’t. They said I could. They put me in a van and they drove me a few hundred feet of the finish line. They told me to finish. The crowd still cheered me on as I happily struggled to the finish line and received a shell lei and my medal. Bananas, malasadas and snow cones were readily available.
I wish they didn’t run out of bananas or gels for the hundreds of walkers. Had to find a grocery store on the route to purchase bananas.
Fantastic views and a lot of support. I heard people waited for the last walker to cross the finish line. I saw the results as being 14 hours. That’s pretty amazing support. I hope to finish this year.
