Pros:Packet pickup was super easy and organized. Race day morning was very organized and parking was easy and stress free. Even at the back of the pack for starting I could easily hear announcements and music. It felt very inclusive as a slower runner. The water tables were frequent and had a place to refill my own water bottle. All the volunteers were friendly. Post race swag was awesome.
Cons: Crowd support was minimal. Mile 1 is right as you leave the Goodyear test track and all the people watching who were in the test track at the start had to stay until all the runners left the track. There were probably 30ish people standing there and not one of them was cheering/clapping/etc. it was odd. The course has a few “loops” and because of that there are places were the spectators were grouped for both the half and the 10k. I had the same experience at mile 4 as mile 1. No one cheered. They just stood there. When the 10k split off around mile 5 I was essentially on the course alone. I did have a runner about .1 miles ahead of me and I think there was someone a little farther behind me. But it felt more like a supported training run through a neighborhood than a race at certain parts.
Overall it was a well put together race and I will most likely run it again.

This 5k was my first postpartum race. I chose it because of the awesome medal (it’s always bee themed!). A lot of 5ks don’t do medals and it’s all about the swag for me. Packet pickup was SMOOTH. Race day was great. The only thing I didn’t love, was the finish line is uphill.

This was my second half marathon. In the races defense, Ohio weather was not cooperating. It was 40 degrees and sleeted on us for the first 45 mins. It then turned to rain and wind. I am a slow runner. Solidly back of the pack. I was aiming for a 3:15 finish. But I was still well within course time limits. The last two aid stations were abandoned. When I got to the finish line there was no one to hand me my medal or free banana. (They were on the marathon side). I know that my time wasn’t something a lot of people would be proud of. But I was. And when no one could even bother to hand me my medal, it felt like a slap in the face after finishing a TOUGH race (so tough they made a t shirt saying ‘I survived’) The racing community already has a stigma about not being inclusive. Things like this don’t help. Despite being one of the closest races to me geographically, I will not run it again.
