It was a super fun day on the west side!

The course is very flat and fast, it was just roasting hot! It goes through Garfield, Douglass, and Humbolt Park. There was almost no support in Douglass, a decent amount in Humbolt (SO my sister), but it was a party going through Garfield! Good aid stations with sponges and Maurten gels. The party afterwords was very good as well.

Medal and shirt were good! Expo was not my favorite at the Roosevelt Commons.

This race was absolutely electric!!

The course was so exciting and it was a blast just being able to see temples, shrines, skyscrapers, and towers. The entire course was lined with spectators and volunteers. The volunteers were amazing! They had more volunteers than any marathon I’ve seen in the states. They were so kind and helpful. The spectators were also amazing! Its a very different energy than Chicago though! Less cowbells and very few signs! Aid stations were amazing. I really loved he Pocari Sweat electrolyte drink they give. The course does have out backs for a large portion of the race. Everything was so new and interesting it didn’t bother me much!

They had really great swag, but none of it was free- besides the medal and towel at the end. They don’t make a huge stock of swag and it can be a little stressful and expensive trying to get what you want. Bib pickup was really easy! Asics store was not lol.

If you can’t read or aren’t good at following directions, this might not be the race for you. Its a very organized race and they give very specific instructions. How to enter the race, which aid station to stop at, cut-off times and more. Many people were heartbroken when they were denied entry because they got there after 8:45am. Its such a respectful country, and that includes people respecting their laws and rules. They don’t make exceptions. Just read the dang guidebook and its not that hard.

This was an awesome marathon! I would definitely recommend signing up for it! Previously, I was an Indy hater! But this race has me rethinking everything. It was so cool running at the start and seeing Circle Monument come into sight. We then ran north through some really gorgeous neighborhoods. On the way back down you go through a park that goes along a river.

Plenty of water stations throughout! They do pass out Nuun instead of Gatorade. They were also giving out lots of gels. I didn’t take any but they looked like Neversecond gels!

Spectators were there for most of the race! It was one of the loudest crowds I’ve heard as I finished. Super cool!

The swag was so good! The free shirt was really great this year. At the end, we were given a beanie! Also- they give you a nice bag to put all the food and drinks you get at the end. Great race!!

Loved running the marathon at the Spinx Runfest! It was a super fun day! Greenville is such a beautiful city if you’ve never been! All the volunteers were so very nice, and it was well managed for being a smaller race!

Many people say this is a flat course. As someone with a Chicago brain- this course was NOT flat! 660 feet of gain throughout the race. Miles 4-11 appear flat but were deceptively uphill. You then do a loop through a cemetery which was very hilly. The right after the turnaround at 13.1 you have a short but gnarly hill! It kicked my butt! Then the last mile is a brutal uphill.

Not tons of support along the way. It seemed most crowds were there for their one person and were just kinda staring at us as we ran by! However- the lady with microphone made my day! The aid stations were frequent! They don’t distribute Gu’s- but there were a few generous people handing them out!

Finishing with running the bases at Fleur Field and hearing the announcer call your name while seeing yourself on the big screen was such a cool finish! So much fun!

The swag was pretty weak. 5K, 10k, half, and marathon all got the same shirt. The medal was the same for everyone as well- just with different colors for each race. Food at the end was also not the best. Final complaint- the course markers were lacking in some areas and without guides- I totally ran the wrong direction for a brief moment.

Overall- It was an awesome day and an awesome race! I’d recommend it!

Flying Pig does it best!!

The course IS tough, but not as bad as some people amp it up to be. There are a lot of hills at the beginning, but after the first half its all done!

There is a ton of crowd support throughout the whole race. There is only a brief section where you’re on a highway and people aren’t there. Tons of parties, live music, and handouts all along the race!

Its very well organized with really good swag. The medals are always giant!

As someone who lives in Chicago, this marathon was one of the best days of my life!!

It is SO cool to run through all the neighborhoods and seeing so much of the city in one event. Pilsen and China town really bring the party!! There was not a single section of the course where you didn’t see crowd support.

If you’re lucky enough to win the lottery- do it!!!!!
