This smaller marathon was first rate when it came to volunteers and course. Lots of Northern Mich University athletes out to support the runners and plenty of aid and on-course support. 2019 had ideal weather for a late summer race with cool at the start and bluebird skies throughout.

The scenery for this type of race was awesome. Beautiful tree-lined neighborhoods resplendent in their fall colors. A thriving downtown district. Parks, school campuses, all with gorgeous color. Autumn peak hit the nail on the head his year.

Never in 26.2 miles did I feel alone on the course, and there was really only minor congestion for the first .5 to .75 miles.
