Pros: -Great scenery throughout Des Moines. The course takes you through city and country areas and it helps keep you engaged throughout. -Hills weren't extremely challenging but just enough. -There … MORE
Pros:
-Great scenery throughout Des Moines. The course takes you through city and country areas and it helps keep you engaged throughout.
-Hills weren’t extremely challenging but just enough.
-There are a good amount of spectators throughout the entire course to help you keep going.
-They had a great variety of sugary/salty items to be handed out during the course (donuts, gummy bears, twizzlers).
-Many locals were outside their homes and cheering for runners.
-Organization of event was well planned and registration was smooth. It was during a fitness expo so you could grab your registration materials and also check out relevant vendors for runners.
-Swag was great! Included is a nice jacket with the race logo and information for runners. Also, they have practical running supplies and runners nutrition in the bag.
-Overall, great running environment and atmosphere
Cons:
-At first, there were so many runners with the half marathoners and full marathoners combined (for the first 1-2 miles I believe) and it was harder to get started. Eventually, we split and it was able to be broken up.

Pros:
-Easy course. It’s all pretty much flat. When I say “pretty much” I mean that there is one minor hill at the beginning and end.
-Scenic route
-Smaller, more quaint race (if that’s what you’re looking for).
-Decent swag (cool shirt, running socks)
-Easy and smooth registration
-Easy places for people to find you and cheer you on.
Cons:
-Smaller, more quaint race (if you’re not looking for that).
-Spectators can dwindle throughout.
-Swag was just alright.
-Simple production but not a grand one.
