It’s a good run for fun. But if you are trying to PR it’s a mess, many sharp turns and if it rains that day you will be running through slick mud spots and wet wooden paths. I would have loved to seen more animals on the route but only recall seeing a few. It didn’t help that Africa was under construction. But if you like to jog and take in the scenery be sure to check this out.

This was the first time in 34 half marathons that I stuck with my pacer from start to finish. he did a great job of coaching us through the hills and keeping us on an exact pace. he even did a 15 second count down at each water stop to keep us going. at the end i was able to pull away and beat my goal by 2 minutes.

Packet pick up was run smoothly. The team was vey friendly. I highly recommend taking the shuttle to the start. not much of a wait time. the course was great, how ever very hilly. I really don’t remember running on a flat surface much. only real complaint was that our pacer started off super fast. instead of slowing for the hills she ran them pretty quickly. but overall a great race.

great way to see KCMO and enjoy a beautiful course. I highly recommend this to new runners. lots of positive energy here. Be sure to sign up.

Per usual in KC this was a humid June run. We had to walk a few times. the post-race fuel kind of made up for it. we were sweaty and miserable afterward. 3 days later i signed up for 2024.

I keep coming back to Rock the Parkway for a reason – it’s so well run. beautiful course. great volunteers. overall a well run race. Highly recommend this race.

I’ve been running RTP for years, simply because it’s a great race. The staff does a great job putting this race on every year. And running a beautiful course is an added bonus.

This is the 6th time running Des Moines for me, and there is a reason why I keep coming back – the organization. Packet pick-up is easy, getting to the start line is simple, and the finish line celebration has a lot of positive energy. I love the course, a few gradual hills but you also get some great views along the way. I look forward to coming back in the future.

I love this race, they do a great job of organizing it (even during a pandemic). mostly a downhill course, so it’s easier for most runners. i can’t think of any glaring negatives.

I’ve run the half and full several times here. I love this course because I used to live in Des Moines and get to see all my old stomping grounds. The staff and volunteers are great as is the post party. On a scale of 1-10 this is 13.1.

I like running this trail run. it’s very challenging and gorgeous at the same time. The race director does a good job of finding a charity partner so I know that my entry fee is always going to a good cause

It’s just not one hill. it’s many hills. on a humid day this course will eat you alive. it’s a good run overall. there is a lot of great swag but you will work for it 🙂

I would recommend this to any serious runner looking for a challenge. FYI for most, it’s not a run but a fast-ish hike. Gorgeous scenery, but very little air after 12,000 feet

they have changed this course a lot. hard to say what it will be like from year to year. it’s well run. but not much to see along the course.

I ran this course several times. they change it quite often. but it’s great way to see the city. it’s very hilly. but overall great crowd support and after party.

I’ve ran it once and still talk about it often. flat course. 1.5 million spectators cheering you on. who needs headphones? awesome after party. run this race.
