The Pros: This race was very beautiful. The majority of the course was run on paved running paths and there was plenty of room. The weather was absolutely perfect. The bib pick up was efficient enough. It was at the local Dicks Sporting Goods. The line was very long, but I didnt wait longer than 15 minutes. You also got a 20% off coupon for that day in your email ahead of time. The shirt was nice (I got the 1/4zip, there was also a long sleeved). At the end, you get a finishers medal and a mug. Both were very nice.
The Cons: I finished the race just a hair over 3hours (race limit 3 and a half) and the place looked like a ghost town. The band was almost completely packed up when I finished. There was hot and cold apple cider, a prepackaged caramel apple and a water bottle. Thats it. I’m not sure if there was ever anything else, but I don’t think so. While I understand that I was at the back of the pack, it would have been nice to have things still going for us slow pokes. Thankfully I was staying very close and once I crossed the finish line, I just kept walking back to my hotel.
All in all the scenery was the best part of the run for me.

The packet pick up was easy and there were a couple vendors. The Corning Museum of Glass gave a discount to those who wanted to see the museum that weekend, and we did take advantage of that (which I would recommend).
Race morning was very easy to navigate – there were busses to shuttle up to the half marathon start, and to the full marathon start. There were plenty of volunteers telling you which way to go. The race course was an enjoyable one; mostly on roads that were either completely closed or partially closed to traffic, and there were plenty of people/crowd support towards the end to help you push through. The finish line is the best part though. You run down the center of town and it is probably the most beautiful race finish I’ve ever seen. Once done there was so much post race food it was unbelievable!! Drinks, snacks, soup and pizza!! And they encouraged you to take as much as you wanted (even gave you a bag before going through the tent/food area – KUDOS!). The race medal is made of glass and is very nice. Along with the wine glass and a small bottle of champagne that you get.
Over all, a very well organized, well put together race! I really enjoyed this one and am thinking about going back next year!!

At this point I’m sure everyone has heard that the 2023 Flying Pig should have been named the “Swimming” Pig. You can never plan 100% for the weather, and unfortunately this race would have been better served with a kayak than running sneakers. Oh well.
Packet pick up was like something I haven’t seen outside of runDisney events. It was very large with A LOT of vendors and options for shopping and freebies! It was very easy to get around though and get my bib/poster/shirt/backpack/etc.etc.etc.
The race was a bit of a wash (pun intended). The very large hill climbing up to the park was difficult, especially when I was already soaking wet.
I did not get to enjoy the post race party because of family obligations, but I could hear the music and the good time being had by runners and their families.
I would like to do this run again someday, maybe when we can better predict the weather.
